SOCIEDAD HONORARIA HISPÁNICA

What is the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica?

The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (SHH) is an honor society for high school students enrolled in Spanish and Portuguese and is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.  The purpose of the society is to recognize high achievement of high school students in the Spanish and Portuguese languages and to promote a continuing interest in Hispanic and Portuguese studies.

Who is eligible?

Any secondary school student who is in an honors level, has maintained an honor average* in the study of Spanish or Portuguese for a minimum of three consecutive semesters and is in the 10th grade or higher is eligible. The SHH is an honor society for students of high academic achievement.

*For a level 4Honors or AP student to earn an honor average s/he must have maintained an A-/A for three consecutive semesters.

**For a level 3Honors student to earn an honor average s/he must have earned an A-/A average both semesters in his/her level 2 Accelerated class and an A-/A for the first semester of the 3Honors level.
